Democracy works! Your calls, letters and emails have led the University of Missouri to end its relationship with abortion doctor Colleen McNicholas. Effective December 1, the University of Missouri hospital is ending a category of doctor privileges called "refer and follow." MU officials said only two out of 800 doctors had this kind of privilege, including McNicholas, and it was "outdated and unnecessary." As a result of this decision McNicholas will no longer have privileges at the university hospital. Furthermore, because state law requires a doctor to have privileges or an agreement with a hospital, McNicholas will no longer be able to perform abortions in Columbia, unless she obtains privileges or an agreement with some other hospital. Your influence has, therefore, led Missouri's premier public land grant university to get out of the abortion business. The Missouri Catholic Conference will be monitoring the situation and seeking to ensure that the abortion industry is finally closed down in Columbia.
